Privacy Policy

Sunplan is operated by Alex Lichen, an individual based in California (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us at hello@sunplan.io.

• Account details: your name and email address, and a securely hashed password if you sign up with email. If you use Google sign-in, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
• Your plans: the addresses you add (including their coordinates and ZIP code), the zones and structures you draw, the names you give them, and settings like your growing season.
• Technical data: the basic information any web service receives, such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider may log for security and reliability.

We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.

• To create and secure your account, and to verify your email address.
• To save your plans and calculate sun exposure, weather-adjusted sunlight and climate details for them.
• To send you account emails, like verification codes and password resets.
• To keep Sunplan working, secure and free of abuse.

We don't sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with Sunplan. We don't request access to any other Google data, such as your Gmail, contacts, calendar or files.

• How we use it: only to create your Sunplan account, sign you in, and show your name and picture in the app.
• Storage: it's stored with your account (see “Services that help us run Sunplan”) and deleted when you delete your account.
• Sharing: we don't sell it, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising, and we don't use it to train AI or machine-learning models.

Sunplan's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We share data with these providers only as needed for them to do their part:

• Neon stores our database and handles sign-in, including your account details and plans.
• Vercel hosts the website and processes requests to it.
• Google provides maps, satellite images and address search, which receive the addresses and locations you look at, and Google sign-in if you choose it. Google's use is covered by its own privacy policy.
• Open-Meteo and phzmapi.org provide historical weather and plant hardiness zones. They receive an approximate location (rounded coordinates) or ZIP code, never your name or email.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect Sunplan and its users.

We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to complete sign-up and email verification. Your browser also stores cached weather and climate data for your plans so pages load faster. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

We keep your account and plans for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account from the account page, we delete your plans and account details. Weather data we cache is tied to a rounded location, not to you.

• You can view and edit your plans and name at any time.
• You can download a copy of your data from your account page. It includes your account details and all your plans.
• You can delete individual plans, or delete your whole account from your account page, which removes your plans and account details.
• For anything else, email hello@sunplan.io. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information.

Connections to Sunplan are encrypted, passwords are hashed, and access to your plans is limited to your account. No service is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Sunplan isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll let you know by email or in the app.
